3d Format
The 3d Format was a game engine system designed for the home computer market. It was announced at December 1988 Amphenol Electronics Show by the 3D Format Consortium. The main purpose was game development on personal computers of the time, through the use of the enhancements to the existing hardware and operating system by PDP-11 and DOS, created by Amphenol. The ambitions of 3dFormat were as follows:
end-user software development,
data interchange (e.g. simplification of stored imagery),
synthesis of high resolution three dimensional imagery,
real time stereo display, and
simulation and modeling (e.g. physical simulation).
The system was slated to launch as an upgrade to DOS in July 1989, but consumer rejection of the price ($180) and fear of the complexity of the program delayed the launch date.
The 3d Format release consisted of multiple layers. 3dFormat Version 1.5 was released in 1989 for $199, underwritten by National Semiconductor, containing format extensions and third party applications like the TrueType fonts. A Version 2.0 was finalized in 1990 but was shelved indefinitely in 1992.
The system was designed so that an ordinary machine could easily assemble 3D scene. 3dFormat did not approach OpenGL’s goal of integration. The engine presented the processor’s capabilities to the user via a plug-in interface (named “OpenScript”).
The OpenScript ISA allowed a wide range of functionality to be included in the system. These capabilities were manifested via a strong engineering philosophy, which tried to naturally integrate 3dComp with existing architectures as opposed to posing a bar to system developers. In this 3dFormat compatibility was developed it was given a covering nodule different than high-end 3D graphics emphasis. This approach came with a resulting that 3dComp was somewhat like an outgrowth of computer

In a nutshell, there’s a real hell of a lot of Spyro games. For those who don’t know, Spyro the Dragon was the main character in an incredibly popular animated series produced by Disney. It ran from 1997 to 2004, and has been re-released multiple times. Both Square and Activision–now developer of Skylanders–have released games based on the series in that time, and yet, still, they’re not over.
While there are ten games in the series, only three have been ported to the Wii; in other words, the Wii has never been as popular with Spyro fans as all the other platforms. To compound that, the other Skylanders games run the gamut of quality, though since they’re all essentially spin-offs of the Spyro series, it’s harder to find a bad one. Still, I do recognize that the quality of Spyro games can vary from game to game, so I’m not judging them

Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4) – Xbox One 7.5/10
I know I am in the minority on this score, but I don’t believe this is really a “remake” or “reboot” but more of an extension. I can’t put my finger on just why, maybe just because the “old” FF7 is still fresh in my mind, but maybe it’s just the nostalgia, or maybe just the artwork. I don’t believe it’s all new, but I also don’t think it looks like the previous FF7 as well. I found it to be a good game, but not great.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (PS4, PS VR) – Xbox One 8/10
Great game. If you liked DBZ on other platforms, or have played ANY mainline DBZ game, you’ll like this. If you didn’t like the old DBZ games, there’s probably not a lot of reason to get this one.
Dungeons of Dredmor (PC) – Xbox One 8/10
A wonderful game that you’ll want to play the whole campaign through multiple times and then if you want a little more, there’s more dlc. The game is fully voice acted, which is refreshing and adds a lot of charm. Simple game mechanics, and beautiful pixel art make this a great game.
Death Rattle (PC, Mac, PS4) – Xbox One 8/10
This game is completely free-to-play with single player mode and couch co-op. Death Rattle was all about the atmosphere and the story is about a post-apocalyptic nurse who is down on her luck who has to fight to survive. It was very touching and almost saw me cry a couple of times. The story is told in “stylized comics” which follow along with the main story line. The only character in the game is the main character. It’s more about a narrative than gameplay (which is a little frustrating at times) but there’s so many things to do, and not to mention the character interaction and relationship with other survivors, it adds to the feel and adds a very interesting dynamic that you don’t see in a lot of survival/RPG games. I highly recommend this game.
