    Cadulium is a video game project I started a few years ago to explore the concept of artificial life (artificial intelligence). What happens if a video game character is self-aware? Would she actually know what she is? What would it mean?
    The play experience is based on the Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead game. The idea was to try and imagine a game in which the characters interact and have conversations with each other. They are aware of their existence in a fictional world, and they have thoughts, emotions and a past, but they can’t communicate with other people in the same way that humans do.
    Cadulium is an exciting new experience, and a playful twist on the concept of artificial life.

    What happens when a video game character is self-aware?
    Cadulium follows the stories of Maia and Maria.
    Maia is a video game character who is followed everywhere she goes, and she doesn’t know why. She fights for survival while trying to solve her mystery and understand her reality.
    Maria is a cryptic character. She “works at the University.” She blogs (and is on social media) under the username of IamNamedMaria, where she speculates about the nature of reality.

    – What We’re Doing This Year

    Are you ready for a new kind of blog? For starters, I’m going to be covering anime and Japanese live-action movies. As I’ve said earlier in the year, this blog is going to be focused more on the older animated series. Still, it will still cover new shounen and shoujo titles as they come out. Heck, I’ll probably still do a podcast at the end of the year, too. My goal is to have a different perspective on anime than what’s shown in the typical news sites, anime blogs and even some of the more long-time anime convention news sites.

    More importantly, I want to mix things up. I’ve had blogs on news, the convention world, anime, manga and even gaming. I really like some of the people I know, and the purpose of the blog is to try to keep news coming to my friends’ friends. I know a lot of you are anime and Japanese language fans, so I’m going to try and give you the kind of coverage you want. Some people just don’t watch the older anime and Japanese live-action. As much as I love some of the older shows, I know what has and has not held up for 20 years. I’m going to do a lot of that kind of coverage, and do so in a way that everyone can enjoy. My wife has a Lexapro prescription, so I want to keep my content socially acceptable.

    There’s going to be a lot of other changes. I’ve got a new RSS reader to post to, and since I tend to use mutt as my mail program, I’m going to be posting new messages via RSS and blog posts via E-Mails. Podcasts will have to go through YouTube, which isn’t one of the things I was used to, but I’m working with Soundcloud. I’m going to try and use Facebook in some ways, but not in a really in-your-face way (I’m not a Facebook user, to start with). This isn’t about generic politics, like I might have on my movie and anime blogs. The reader may be the same, but I think the nature of the content will change. This is mostly about putting together an assortment of interesting things to watch and read.
