All these steps of course can be automated, but I didn’t find such a thing at the time. The closest thing I found was the Windows Offline Activation tool, which comes with the KMS, and is a basic UAC bypass tool. It is free, and you can download it from here .
Once the tool is downloaded, the first thing that you need to do is open the program, and it will start downloading the Windows Offline Activator. It is a very bare bones installer and it doesn’t offer any great installation options. You can select where to put the activation program and what prerequisites need to be installed. I chose to install it on the local drive, because I was expecting to need this program to be installed every time I booted a new machine. This choice allowed me to avoid getting this tool to be installed on a new machine.
Next you want to press next and select the option for the “Windows Offline Activation Tool”
Once you have finished installing the tool, you can press start to launch the tool, and when you finish you can click ok. The tool will start and inform you that it cannot activate your product, but that it will be working on it. You then need to select activate this computer from the computer icon on the taskbar and wait for it to run through the activation process. This will take several minutes. While this is happening, you will see this screen in the taskbar:
Once it’s finished you will need to restart your computer, and you need to enter the Windows 7 install disc. When you boot you will need to pick advanced options and use the repair option to have the hardware automatically repair itself before starting the Windows 7 setup process. You will need to continue selecting your language and choosing to install the desired number of updates. After it’s finished installing, you will have a clean install, including your operating system and any drivers you had installed previously. You can then go to your control panel to check the Windows activation status. It will now show the status as “activated” and will allow you to reset the key. You can then proceed to activate the software.
