ms. dove has received the fulbright distinguished speakers award, the national humanities medal, the literature award of the american academy of arts and letters, the macarthur foundation grant, and the dana award for lifetime achievement from the american academy of arts and letters. in 2000 the library of congress presented her with the national book award for poetry.
