We wanted a nice city place where we could stay if my wife’s family is in town (her uncle is from Ohio; he’s her blood-father, legally). Currently, we are staying at Motel 6. But the motel charges $10-15 per night just to shut the gate – no matter the car doors are locked.
Well, I would like to stay at a land casino – nothing fancy, just something to amuse, and of course drink beer. And, while I’d thought that I was too old and too nerdy to enjoy a really high-brow place, I discovered that I actually really enjoy them.
But there are many ways to run a casino, and I don’t want to be living in hiding so I set out to find the good ones and the bad ones.
In addition to better slots, hotels, etc, here are some things that I like/dislike about land casinos.
Things I Like
Good food. Both buffet and sit down style; lots of things both casual and fancy. I’ve always found that if I’m hungry I’m willing to eat the worst stuff.
Fun for kids. A lot of land casinos offer karaoke, open bars, events etc
Signs and prizes for wins.
Ability to change rules during play if needed.
Things I Don’t Like
If I decide to pay $100 to win $10 then that’s because I want my money’s worth
