Serial Classic Menu For Office 2007
in summary, i’m not really recommending any of these, especially the free ones. the basic ones are rubbish, and the free ones are expensive. if you want to have an absolute classic menu for office, try the commercial classic menu product. it’s a near perfect reproduction of the old menu, and it is a real work of art. it will run in office 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2010. the cost is a bit steep, but if you are willing to pay for something you really want to use, it’s worth it. you can also download the style sheets, as they are part of the package, and modify them to suit your needs.
the support forums for ubitmenu are online. for me, the place to go for support is www.ubitmenu.com/forum, the main support website. in the forums, you will find a lot of useful information about the product. but be aware that the forums are prone to spam posts from people who are looking for a quick buck. they may not be the most helpful in giving you the support you need. so if you do need help, i recommend you post in the appropriate forum. there is a help forum for each product, as well as a help forum for classic menu. a few posts from forum members will usually bring a quick response.
i have downloaded all the updates for office 2007 since i first used it in 2010, and have never had a problem. i work in the education field, so our it department has always done a good job of keeping us up to date. i have heard some people claim that they had problems updating office and/or installing office, but i have not experienced that in over 10 years.
at this point i think we can all agree that the ribbon is the single worst design mistake by microsoft since they invented pop-up menus. this issue was so common that microsoft even got defensive about it on their own blogs. on august 21, 2007, microsoft’s tony bradley wrote:
the third option is to drag the menu icon from ubitmenu onto the menu bar of your application. this is a superb idea, because it brings you exactly the ribbon you want, and without any of the workarounds. if you want an office 2003 look, this will be the best option, and it works with both the starter and professional versions.
i tried it and it was nice just for the fact that the tab has the legacy folder icon. without that icon i would have always been confused as to which office tab i was in, and why the icons are so similar. i also like the classic look, and the menu name is useful for me to quickly know what program i am in. i did not buy it though, because i do not have office 2007 and the other products do not suit me, but i would have certainly purchased it if i had.
i am a big fan of all the available office 2007 add ons (i use them all). i like the fact that the program can be customized, that it keeps the functionality but the look and the feel of the old excel, i use it like that.
i like the idea of the classic menus, but i find they are unusable. it just doesn’t work, the menus are difficult to find and i don’t get any clear indication of what they are. it is a bit like using the new ribbon with the old menus. it’s just not going to work.
that’s what i thought. sometimes it’s hard to find menus, but the menus are very useful in some situations. i have to say that it’s really difficult to find the menu item you want, and i tried the install several times, but it’s still unusable for me. i’m no expert but it seems like this is a huge mess and it’s going to take a while to get it working. what do you think?
