Elden Ring is a fantasy action role-playing game developed by Nihon Falcom. It was released for Microsoft Windows platforms in Japan on June 26, 2009. “Elden Ring” is an abbreviation of “The Land Between the Rivers,” a fictional setting comprised of four countries. The first country is Taldor, followed by Bordugia, Mathuria and Gabrielsreich.
The setting, characters, and artwork were designed by Toshihiro Kondo, who is widely recognized for his artistic excellence for such games as Ys VIII, Cygames’ Cross and Nobilis’ Luna. The story, writing, and planning were handled by the same core staff that developed Ys VIII, as well as by additional members. The music and sound effects were also specially created by the team, which includes composer Yoko Shimomura (Ys series), who won the 2013 Game Award for Best Original Music.
The game’s unique fantasy setting and epic story, told in fragments, have become the subject of great interest. The game’s witticism, depth, and intricacy have drawn broad attention, generating a fervent response in the player base.
