When monsters and men released My Head Is An Animal they raised their profile the world over; from the LA Times to BBC Radio 1. This album, on the other hand, comes closer to the Monsters original music. You don’t hear the guitars, you hear the lyrics, the strings, the harmonies, even the’strums’.. it brings together the past, present and future. as well as a tad of nostalgia. A lot of songs are inspired by Monster Trucks past but its stronger on the contemporary aspects of the album, with a great emphasis on writing lyrics.
Night On My Side is one of the many songs that is a feature of My Head Is An Animal. By hearing it you will understand why the band has become such favourites. The song has been given a lot of attention; from a Swedish press conference to a press conference by Zane Lowe of the Radio 1. Of Monsters and Men released their debut album Monster Truck in 2009. It was a raw and acoustic album, which was very much the case with this album.
From the opening guitar part, of Monsters and Men brought a big sound in this debut album. Although the songs were written by the band, this kind of song was not on their debut album. For example, The Ballad Of The Lazy Barber, was inspired by a road movie the band had seen in Mexico. Monster Truck then released Monster Truck, the first album of their career, in 2010.
