Before I forget, let me just tell you that you can save your custom LR presets and download them back when you purchase Lightroom 5. This is a welcome change from the previous versions where you had to make your own Lightroom presets. Unfortunately, you cannot import the custom presets from the previous version into the 5th and newer versions. I hope Fujifilm remedied this issue. If you currently purchase Lightroom 5 and you are a Fujifilm X-Pro1 owner, get ready to go back to Fujifilm RAW conversion. Or just hold out and wait for Fujifilm to bring out a new RAW format. Who knows, someday we may have a RAW format with built-in LumaKey.
In Lightroom 5, Adobes team has basically made sure everything is now perfectly configurable. The first thing you notice in Lightroom 5 is the fact that you can edit your horizontal and vertical image scaling right from the application itself. The controls at the bottom of the main window can easily be customized and customized. Changing the default Edit profiles and default Presets, or creating and assigning your own User defined Presets and/or preferences for a particular kind of an image makes Lightroom 5 a great editor. The other thing I like is the fact Lightroom 5 remembers the last settings that I have adjusted, and lets me use them as default in future as long as I remember to enable them. This is quite a surprise, and I was really impressed by the fact Lightroom remembers all these settings. Some people will most definitely find this feature useful.
The last thing I really like about Lightroom 5 is the fact that it remembers my last chosen image view setting and uses it all the time. This is great, because what if I shoot different types of images in a shoot, and wanted to have a quick preview of what I have shot. Without even opening the application, I can choose to see an image in Camera, a Slideshow, a Grid, or a List layout. I can quickly create a slideshow, play the slideshow, or export the slideshow to HTML. And in those slideshow options I can choose different image sizes, and even choose to add transition effects or not. Its really a great feature, and one that you cannot afford to ignore, even when you use only one kind of shooting style in your shooting sessions. I personally use a lot of Slideshows, and this feature does save me a lot of time.
