the following mantra has been developed by narayan maharishi in the tradition of tantra. it is designed to take your mind and consciousness through a journey of powerful healing energies. this mantra can be used in conjunction with any of the four ashtas of mantra practice:

1. mantra – this is the first of the four ashtas or methods of mantra practice.
2. mantra recitation – in this method, you silently recite the mantra over and over again.
3. mantra japa – in this method, you repeat the mantra by speaking it aloud. in this case, you are essentially telling your mind to take the mantra and convert it into a sound. your mind takes on the mantra as your own, and it will be converted into your own word sound.
4. mantra meditation – in this method, you repeat the mantra silently while visualizing yourself taking the mantra in your own energy body.
5. mantra puja – in this method, you are taking the mantra and bringing it to the physical plane to be used in a sacred puja (prayer ritual).

tikta (mixed) yajna(sacrifice) is not defined as a sa.va.yajna and therefore it is not a pitri (flourishing) sacrifice. hence it is not suitable to be performed at an image of a god, even if that god is a mythologized form of a man. but in particular the manner in which yajnas are performed in sa.yajna (open air sacrifices) is very notable. in yajurveda, there is a specific term for this practice, viz. atirathu. according to it, only a good tm.karma (purification), i.e. karya (diet and cleansing), and a good n.dhanam (distributing the results) suffice for the atirathu sacrifice to be performed perfectly. thus, a person cannot perform such sacrifices at any other time than some particular time when the atmosphere is favourable.
in a samskara (act of consecration) on the part of a worshipper, it is generally thought that the most suitable time for it is in the rainy season. not only this, because in the rainy season the dust settles and the divine mother is comfortably present and not found in any other season (thanks to sriramanda for this information). according to the yajurveda, it is in fact said: {‘ “by the waters of the river ganga i have performed my samskara. i have had the nyagrodha tree decorated. bhudevi has been worshipped. the creeper is garlanded. bathing and dressing has been performed and the firewood is being prepared. under the influence of the lustrous moon, i have performed my sacrifice. under the magical influence of the rainbow, the ambrosia and the nectar. i have been anointed with the divine hair oil. my head is duly adorned. the sacrificial fire is made ready. the priest has performed his samskara. the delightful brahma has joined me. my samskara is complete. i am a believer now. i am very happy.” ‘}
