strange adventures is being written and drawn by eddie campbell (bad taste, metal hurlant) with a script by lee allred (predators,the last of the mohicans, the flood), and will be available in print, as an audiobook, and digitally. eddie campbell is artist and writer, and lee allred is script editor and writer, both of whom can be found on twitter at @eddiecampbell and @leeallred23, respectively.
the dialog is mostly well written and fits the setting, though the choice of words is sometimes puzzling. for example, on the good side, fatman exclaims that theres a killer in the building, then says that it must be toxicman. on the bad side, fatmans excuse for not leaving the building is that he doesnt want to spoil the view.
still, there are a few problems. first, fatmans ammo is limited. you can use it to kill toxicman and save the city, but you cant do it without buying more. this isnt a big problem until theres no more ammo for the game, forcing you to restart the game and take some time to save the city. second, the game is not smart enough to tell you when you have reached the maximum number of weapons, so when it does, youll have to start over again. third, there are a few parts of the game that are very repetitive. when you are on a high level, theres almost no chance of a save failure, so theres no need to save the city so often. fourth, the game has a bad habit of crashing. it crashes often enough that youll be forced to quit. finally, there is no way to save fatmans progress at any point other than at the end of the game. there is no real way to reload an earlier save, and theres no way to return to the last room you played before you died.
