there are systems that will let you load multiple versions of the ide in the same system at the same time. however, if you have any a/v that make it hard to use the other windows, that can be managed, but there is a risk that the system keeps some settings or other preference, and the one ide you are using can affect your other work in the system. the configuration settings for the different implementations will likely be stored in.ini files or.xml files or other ways around this, which makes them hard to move around, and hard to compare or modify/tune one ide in between the others, since you need to recompile that part of code again to get the dependencies resolved. if the same version of the ide are changing too frequently, this will make you need to recompile your work on many different places in the system. or, for instance, on a system where ide a has a newer version installed, i would use ide a to build something that uses ide b features, and when i tested that code, ide a would now work with the newer ide b features. if i had my ide b install,ide b is just a newer version of the program, and will likely still work.
