counter-strike 1.3 is a strategy game developed by id software. it was released in august of 1999 for pc. counter-strike is a team-based game where you have to defend the terrorists while trying to kill all the guards in the mission. the game was a huge success and played by a huge number of people in the multiplayer. the single player game is available online in its second version.
since i had the game on cd it took me a while to figure out how to copy the files, so i figured i’d write down how to do it. the only official way to install the game is through steam, but this is also the only way to play the single player mode. the steam files are on the cd and not inside the game. if you download the files in the main folder of the cd, you’ll need to extract them first.
inside the game you’ll find a folder called “counter-strike” inside the directory “game”. open it up. inside the “counter-strike” folder you’ll find a folder called “cs-src”. open it. you’ll find a folder called “config”. open the file called “server.cfg” inside it. note that this file will be different from the one on the cd (which i didn’t have).
next you’ll need to download the files from the cd. inside the cs-src folder you’ll find a folder called “data”. open it up. open the file called “cd_maps”. this is the file with the map names. you’ll need to get the files for all the maps except “day.bsp”. i have no idea what the “day.bsp” file is, but you’ll need to get the files for all the maps.
