kriss kross were the first pop group in history to get a song on the top of the billboard hot 100 (i think). i remember hearing the song on my walkman and thinking that it seemed so distant and foreign. the song was in a way all wrong for the band. it was the kind of song a black girl might have made back in the day, a song that a girl would sing about another girl who would then sing about how she loved that girl, in a language that would have a very familiar ring for anybody who had grown up in 1980s west coast suburbia, and that song was called you got it bad. but even with that song, i didnt understand what kriss kross were doing. it wasnt until i started working for a magazine that i began to understand the song and the band.

cricket is a game that has enjoyed a renaissance since it began to be covered in pop culture. ive loved cricket since i was a kid. its a beautiful game with beautiful songs, and the greatest players, like sachin tendulkar, have some of the best songs. but i dont understand why theres so much focus on sachin. i want to hear about the guys who play this game, the guys who make the songs.

ive been doing this song for about a year now. i always wanted to make something that was just fun for me to play. i mean, i am a drummer, but ive also done a lot of songs that are more jazz-like, so i wanted to make something that was just like, i made this! ive always been obsessed with the song from glory of love, which is basically a love song, and then they make a record of the song and play it at a party. it takes on a whole other life when the song is played at a party, and i felt like i could do something like that, i could make a song that was also a party song.

here, devin the dude is one of many rappers who speak directly to the bitches over angry, half-speed beats, although he does so with a refreshingly comic wit. im so sick of it, playing in the back of my mind/that heres the one i wish i could forget. im so tired of the way you treat me, looking over my shoulder/im so sick of you playing me. as much as i want to believe that all these women arent dicks (although, some are), theyve worn me down. whether theyre conscious of it or not, theres some truth to the idea that one person isnt enough to satisfy a woman. maybe thats true, maybe its not, but we all know that dre isnt enough. as such, this song is a sort of battle cry for a generation of men to declare their independence. but not to be taken too seriously, as one of the great things about a long-running sitcom is that it provides a platform for sitcom actors to develop new facets of their skills, and by the time a character washes up, heres a fully rounded one, without the baggage of having to work through any personal issues. will smith as al
