in the spring of 1945, just as world war ii was ending, osborn’s wife, daisy, became seriously ill. she developed tuberculosis and the couple had to leave their family in oklahoma and travel with two children to live with a relative in portland, oregon. they felt god wanted them to be in portland so that they could start a ministry there. on the way to oregon, daisy got worse. they arrived in the portland area just in time for her to have a near death experience. while she was sick, osborn preached his first revival in portland.

after he recovered from the illness, daisy was baptized and spent the next four years making a public commitment to christ. osborn later explained, ‘she gave her life to christ and joined me in a crusade ministry that was to start in the streets of portland.’

osborn described one of the major challenges of his ministry when he said, ‘the greatest challenge of my ministry is the people of this city of the devil. while many of them are godly, the majority are under the power of satan. the devils of the world are many, but the devils of the city are legion. they have deceived me with subtlety, yet still i bear testimony that god’s church is everywhere. i have seen god’s church in the cities of france, germany, india, south america, and all over the world. i have seen god’s church in the shadows and in the streets of this city of the devil. i have seen god’s church in the hills of the west, in the hovels of india, in the palaces of france, in the jungles of south america, in the cabins of the deep south, and the mansions of the rich in the east. i have seen god’s church in the fields, forests, and jungles of africa. i have seen god’s church under the stars of the great sahara, and god’s church in the jungles of south america. i have seen god’s church in the homes, in the streets, in the fields, in the jungles of the darkest and the most remote parts of the world. and i have seen god’s church in the city of the devil.’

by 1945, the marriage had been formalised and in october 1946, they had their first child, a girl, pamela. daisy and tommy set up the church of god in christ, and started to expand their ministry. daisy, as a trained nurse, was in charge of the first hospital, which grew rapidly in the united states. she was responsible for the development of medicine and one of the first people to undertake aids research. the osborns had been involved in the spiritual battle on earth since 1938, when daisy, at the age of 13, saw an angel in the sky. she was the first person to see an angel in the sky and hear the lords voice in 1937.
daisy was the first female to hold a leadership position in a predominantly male church. in the 1950’s, the osborns visited africa and australia, where they held miracle meetings. in the 1960’s, they returned to australia and held an international conference in sydney. in 1965, t. l. went to pakistan and india. while in india, he preached to 25,000 people in one week. he was arrested in pakistan, but was released after three days. he went on to tell thousands of people in india. his international ministry continued through the 1970’s, when he returned to the u.s. he held a mass-miracle revival in san francisco in 1977 and preached to 10,000 people, then to 40,000 people in los angeles. he went on to preach in australia, new zealand, canada, and many other countries, including his home country of the united states. he was arrested in australia in 1967 for preaching too close to a movie theatre.
t. l. and daisy osborn both felt the lord leading them to do something for the sick. they founded the faith temple medical centre in 1957. it was the first hospital for the church of god in christ. since that time, they have been involved in a wide variety of ministries, including music, construction, printing, photography, international missions, christian publishing and a radio station. in 1982, daisy founded daisy’s healing rooms, an alternative medical centre where people with aids and other diseases could come and be treated free of charge. she and t.l.
