update: i was a little confused with the name of the panel, i had assumed it was luminosity overlay, it is luminosity colorize. i also was confused by this panel and the other panel, i thought they were the same, but they are not. the difference between the two is that you can only use one of the panels (both are included in the raya pro panel), and that the luminosity colorize panel has only four sliders, while the luminosity overlay panel has six. the other difference is the interface, the luminosity colorize panel is much easier to use, it is very intuitive and simple to use. the luminosity overlay panel has a lot of flexibility, but it is not as intuitive. in addition the luminosity overlay panel has a dialog to create luminosity masks, the luminosity colorize panel does not have that. the biggest downside of the luminosity colorize panel is that you cannot create a selection directly from the panel, you must first create the selection on a duplicated layer and then use the normal selection methods to create the mask. this is a bit more cumbersome, but may be worth it to people who really love the extra flexibility of the luminosity overlay panel.
this is a simple to use, clean panel with a limited number of functions, three for hue, and one for luminosity. it has a nice intuitive interface, and the sliders are very easy to see. it is well designed, it does have a color zone picker, but no luminosity zones. it has a live preview of the image, but you have to turn it on first. it is not as well designed as the tk panel, or the luminosity overlay panel, but it is the best of the three of the new panel options. i would not recommend it for people who want to learn the ins and outs of photoshop, as there is not much to it.
the panel is a rare tool for photoshop users and is actually a luma masking panel, not color masking. the panels main features are the ability to create masks that you can use as controls on adjustment layers, you can also create arbitrary selections from the control mask. the tutorials are excellent and will take you through the basics of creating masks and selections. i will agree with the other panels that it is not the best value for money, the pricing is high compared to the other panels, but you also get some cool features like the ability to create from arbitrary selections. i would recommend you check out the tk panel or the x-panel, but this is a great starting point for those that would like to learn the finer points of luma masking. the panel is also easy to use and the panel comes with a ton of settings and features.
i purchased this after reading the reviews of the panel and having mixed results with luminosity masking with the 3 other panels. i was very impressed with how clean and intuitive the panel was, the menus and icons are beautiful, and the masking workflow is very smooth. as a photographer who loves to mask, i was excited to find a panel that was very easy to use and clearly had a workflow that i could get used to. i was very impressed by the tutorial videos and was happy to find out that the videos were based on the current version of the panel, which meant that i could buy the panel at a very discounted price with the option to upgrade at any time. i was also impressed by the fact that the panel has a free update that you can keep for life. i love a vendor that keeps their customers happy.
