Right now I would recommend grouping your alts in the same raid. We know from the past that when there was a larger audience that would increase the overall rate of these mounts, as Blizzard will put the most effort into the ones with the largest audience, so there is little reason to believe that your personal G.M.O.D. drop rate would go down. If you get the mount in your first raid, you are still likely to get it in subsequent raids.

I’ve also taken the time to add new effects and polish up the UI, since the last time I added the mount there were some obvious UI errors that put the cart before the horse. Do not expect the mount to look exactly like the screenshots above if you dont have all the mount set-up done. But you should get an idea of what to expect and a feel for how it works, at least. The UI is a bit clunky, but still understandable and functional. Once you are in there, I hope you take the time to customize and personalize it. The mount grant is a great way to give a new character a little bit of diversity and as you progress with your alts, you will get higher tier set-ups.

Currently the mount grants an effective haste boost of 10% for 30 minutes. We have plans to make the mount grant an arcane resistance scaling with haste, which would make it more valuable as the rest of your gear scales with it.

Whenever you level, your mount will change. New people who level will gain a longer mount-grant period, same for the people who level higher. When you level past that, the grant period will be shortened

I would guess the reason behind this is to avoid people from leaving a group cold after Mekkatorque. Even the Wowhead comments include references to using a vast army of alts to try for this thing in much the same way people push for the Love Rocket seasonally. Most people dont care whether their fifth alt is kitted out, so if the mount is on the first boss in the wing it stands to reason lots of people are going to leave afterward, or just zone in and drop immediately if the raid already progressed past this point.

We select each player carefully which means that we do all this handmade and manually. High Tinker mount can drop from various difficulties, even the Raid Finder but only from the last boss Jaina.
Seems like this mount is already created by the Blizzard team. However, their method is to use the vanilla mount file to bring up Gmod mounts. However, there are settings within the vanilla mount file that will enable you to do something similar. And because of this, what you will need to do is use a 3rd party tool to edit the vanilla mount file. At this point you will have to log into the PTR store and use the “add this character to your account” button.
Oh man. I don’t mind having to deal with the seerounor that just assumes all of the mount “fixing” is done for you all in one day. I still wish it existed for everyone, because it’s convenient to just swap the mount tokens out, but I guess it can just serve as a stark reminder to me to catch up on the other ones, like this guy.
Thanks for the kind words, anyway! Most of the people who’ve asked for this mount do so because they want to leave the helm to their characters when they go to their alts. One of the big problems with that is that when you switch over to your alts, the helm no longer matches with the helm/wrist/fingers you had on your main.
Gmod is designed to be very simple to mount on external servers, at the same time GMOD is designed to be accessible and manageable by a vast array of players, which is what gives it a reputation for being complicated or impossible to mount. Fortunately, as an example, the team are running a live stream right now in which a mount is being done (check out stream page linked from the top of the page here).
