I was not able to get this to work either using the filmstrip/horizontal feature (feature mentioned in response to my original question) nor using its transform feature.
In the end, what I did was manually transcode the source and destination files using ffmpeg.
FFmpeg doesn’t seem to be supported by Crossover Pro, however, they do have an FTP client.
The torrent download link below, provided by ffmpeg, is an unrestricted download of the latest stable release of ffmpeg with source code.

I placed the file in C:\ffmpeg\ and then in C:\ffmpeg\bin
What I do is use the ffmpeg file in C:\ffmpeg\bin and then I execute the Crossover Pro program using C:\ffmpeg\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe
I also noticed, while using the program, that the torrent file also contains the full version of Crossover Pro. Not sure what those.exe files are for or if they are required or not.
