Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a text based adventure game, making good use of the mechanics of text based games. The game aims to combine the atmosphere of a zombie apocalypse and the playful text adventure experience.

I’ve just finished writing a game engine which is ready for a first major project, a typical shooter with additional RPG elements, also because I’ve been looking for a way to make “real time” updates without depending on user input.
A game in my mind consists of a team of different people (like the Matrix for example). One “actor” makes sure that the player is running, as well as doing other actions like shooting at enemies, reloading weapons, entering a room etc. Other actors in the game are “actors”: enemies, doors, floors, stairs, entrances, exits, characters, weapons, AI and game events for example. These actors can be either scripted or random.
Scripting is based upon a concept called “events”. If you have “even” :
– Even
= an event that is fired when an actor receives a certain input (pre-programmed in a list)
– Trigger(s)
= an event that is fired when certain condition is reached (using a function like math.random(9) for example)
– Context
= information that holds the state the actor is in, this information can be set in an event as well.
So every “event” can be extended with further information, like “phase” or “level”. The behaviour of an actor is based on certain levels and phases.
The game:
The player is controlled by an AI agent (actor) acting as an alien in a closed world (mostly a city). There are other actors in the game that may or may not have the same behaviour. The player can shoot at, communicate with, walk through and walk by the other actors. Each of these actors has its own “script” in which “events” are triggered. These events
