1. the windows audio service is a system service that was created to manage the hardware devices that are connected to the computer. it is not a device driver.
2. i couldnt find any way to start the service.
15. the syscalls.nvidia.jpg and syscalls.ice.jpg drivers are not loaded by the generic driver (asio.dll) because the syscalls.jpg drivers are only compatible with some of the nvidia devices and not with some of the others.
ive had something similar happen on my older rig beforehad to go through the process of enabling unsigned drivers, then reinstall quite a few of them. in my case, i needed newer reference drivers for my onboard audio chipset. i also had a bunch of older stuff that while it was properly signed for vista, for whatever reasons, windows 10 rejected them based on the digital signature.
i understand. i just wanted to clarify that point you made, since you were contradicting screenshot evidence id already provided for op. that could be more confusing than helpful. based on my experience it seems that depending on their particular motherboard there could be a genuine realtek asio driver (i.e. not asio4all) that they could use which, crappy as it may be, at least would function without crashing rack.

while the launch of cs 5/6 was great, i’m a bit upset at how much has changed. i did my cursory search and seems like the latency issue is limited to half a dozen effects. which is a huge step forward. will this approach work in vst hosts that do not provide the i/o layer drivers? i would guess that we could work this out on our own via vst hosts code and i wonder if steinberg will ever let us release that code or incorporate it into their products. thanks, sean
