first mistake was putting all my private files on the business messanger (where i could access them and change the “appearance” for now). now a few years later a large bunch of files have been “forgotten” and were accessed “for free” by some person in vietnam. actually, “for free” in their own currency so it was a very cheap process. the ip address was traced back to “jasunds”, which is their site hosting (not a vpn). the mail address was not recoverable until someone noticed it was strange that they had access to all of these files without a profile (including my email). the total “financial loss” is a few hundred dollars. but the main damage is that most pages do not have access to all the “files” that i was giving out. it was a security hole for many and a disaster for some, because they simply never trusted anyone to see their private files.
it was a nightmare. and nobody would listen. i finally submitted a support ticket one year after i was first contacted by the scammer, and after spending a huge chunk of my free time, i finally got some answers. the conclusion was that they were completely not accountable to their customers, and had no respect for their integrity. it was more “finders keepers”. they could have claimed ownership but you would have been blacklisted for life. but they were so cheap to do the scam that they simply ignored the moral side of the argument. there are many more examples where people have been doing this for years and years and never been caught.
when they found out the ip address, they sent a message to the victim where someone claimed that they had a “mutual friend” and did not require payment. when they contact me, the code was accepted with “o” for accepting things. i asked the address where they live and in a few months they finally replied, that it was a misunderstanding, and they had paid me in vietnamese currency. the only way they could have paid was with bitcoin, and that money was obviously not meant for me, since i had already accepted the transaction. it’s only at this point that someone in the usa will do something about this.
