When I was there today, I booked a room for two nights last minute, and it was a single room at Hilton Santa Monica, based on their website.
Upon booking, I was told that I would be charged for a double room when I checked in. I thought this was kind of tacky, so I canceled and got myself a different room for a single night.
When I asked the front desk how I could get this discounted rate, I was told that it was calculated based on my dates and the room rate was already over the standard rate of the room I booked… The hotel told me that I could apply for a refund and that I would get a voucher for a future stay. When I checked my credit card statement the next day, I saw that I had been charged for the two nights that I had actually reserved the single room, and that I had also been charged for a double room that I did not book.
The total amount of $260 is in addition to my credit card statements. I have since cancelled both accounts and started to dispute the charges, but I have yet to hear back from them.
How do I get the Hilton back into good standing, and how can I prevent this in the future?.

I’ve been following this thread for a while, and it seems a few folks are having trouble with this “new” version of MediaNav. It’s not a big deal since most of us have been using the old one for years, but it’s worth a try – at least we can get some clarification on whether this will be the new way of doing things or something used at certain spots.
