i am using 64 bit autodesk inventor 2012 on windows 7. i have installed the cool orange thread modeler 8.0.7-64bit-win32 and it works fine with inventor. i am using the microsoft stl generator and have used it successfully for more than 10 years with no problems. the cool orange thread modeler 8.7-64bit-win32 does not work with the microsoft stl generator.
i downloaded the 32 bit version of cool orange thread modeler and it worked fine with inventor until today when i upgraded to the 64 bit version. i have tried both versions of cool orange thread modeler and i have found that the 64 bit version does not work with the microsoft stl generator and the 32 bit version does not work with inventor. there is a new version of cool orange thread modeler 8.0.7-64bit-win64 available from their website which is compatible with the microsoft stl generator and inventor. i have not tried the 64 bit version of this yet because i have to wait until it is released to my account. when i do try it, i will update my review. so far, it has not worked with inventor but i am going to keep trying.
i had the same issue, but i had to change a line in c:\program files\autodesk\inventor 2021\bin\autodesk_inventor.inf_sys to "28" and it worked. if you have the same issue, try changing that line.
the ‘fix’ (code: r111492) has been applied to the latest versions of inventor and should be available soon. in the meantime, if you need threadmodeler to work with the newer versions of inventor, the workaround is to install the older version of autodesk inventor. if the version you have installed is the 32-bit version, you can install the 64-bit version of inventor (version 22 or 23). if you are using the 64-bit version of autodesk inventor, you will need to uninstall the autodesk inventor 32-bit version in order to install the 64-bit version. you can do this by selecting the uninstall option in the control panel, and removing the autodesk inventor 32-bit program. after the uninstall, install the 64-bit version of autodesk inventor. this will install the 64-bit version of autodesk inventor. if your computer has more than 4 gb of ram, you may need to set the maximum amount of memory that your system can use to 1 gb in the system preferences. after the install, restart your computer and the autodesk inventor install. after the reboot, restart autodesk inventor. all of your drawings should now open without errors.
