He wouldnt be a customer anymore, he demanded a full refund. “That is more than half of my order,” he said. “I got good popcorn up north, and Im not paying good money for broken popcorn.” I was wondering why no one else complained. The popcorn wasnt broken. The guy paid for his order, and that is about as good as it gets. A very unhappy customer, and he wanted a refund, not a solution. I offered him a better solution, “I can have my own popcorn corn mixed in with the popcorn you brought up for you,” he said, “I would not have taken this one if it had broken.” I cant lose the sale, after all, I charged him $70.00, and he is willing to pay a little extra for a better product and a better customer experience. And, I promised him that the extra popcorn would be mixed in with the popcorn he paid for, which is what he wants. When I think of the extra few dollars it cost me to pay for the excess popcorn, its not even worth my time. I still lose the sale and the broken popcorn is not even worth mentioning. But, he is satisfied. The popcorn is good, and he is happy. I hope I dont lose this sale because I have a customer that is unhappy, but that is no different from any other customers Ive had. I can still count on my fingers the unhappy people I’ve had. Its sad.
